Along with it, modification in bowel habits is also suggested. The painful and itchy hemorrhoids are usually treated with applying cold pack over the affected area. Patients are asked to take tub baths in hot water for 3 or 4 times in a day. You can also get some medicines for hemorrhoids from drugstores that require no prescription. These medicines can reduce the inflammation and itchiness to some extent. Some medicines even cause numbness on the applied area to relieve pain. Rubbing against the hemorrhoids should not be done, as it would increase the inflammation.
